Introduction

Seaquines are fascinated by color and have studied it's many paths for untold generations.  They have linked specific paths to certain traits, skills and to the natural world.  This realm of knowledge is constantly growing and has shaped the histories of the reef dwellers.  

 

Following a spectrum path is one of three ways to alter the appearance of your seaquine.  Seaquines who chose to follow a path will take on characteristics unique to their chosen color.  A seaquine advances along a spectrum path by completing special tasks and collecting experience.  Your seaquine's personality will be shaped by their chosen path but the possible variations are endless.  All path followers will be allowed to raise their own elemental companion, which is an unique privilege.  Path followers will also have access to skills that are not generally available to average seaquines, as well as advanced training in many common skills.

 

New: A seaquine's original colors are not required to match their chosen path color, although it is highly encouraged by the guild.  Students who are "out of color" in their paths often find themselves being singled out by both guild masters and fellow students.  Some feel they have to work considerably harder to succeed.  So, a bright red seaquine following the sea path will find the path far more challenging than a blue or green colored seaquine.  Sometimes the difficulties become enough to drive a seaquine out of the guild altogether.  

 

What you can get:  Elemental companions, Path specific markings, wearables, mutations, and skills.

What you can lose:  The original appearance of your seaquine, fully open character development.

Exceptions:  Youth may participate but only adults may claim mutations.

 

 

The Levels

 

Trainee

*Rewards- access to guild training,  pick a color

 

Level 1 : Novice

*Rewards- egg hatches into newling, study a skill

*Options (pick 1)- Ornament, tattoo, color shift, minor mutation

 

Level 2 : Intermediate

*Rewards- Newling grows into alpha elemental

*Options (pick 2)-  Ornament, tattoo, color shift, minor mutation, pattern, new background

 

Level 3 : Advanced

*Rewards- Alpha receives a cert, test for special skills

*Options (pick 2)- All options

 

Level 4 : Expert

Required: 40xp, have a skill value of 10, attend a role-play

The Paths

 

The Sea Path: (Color) Blue * (Anticolor) Red * (Difficulty) Easy 

(Description) This is the easiest of all paths to follow as all seaquines born with a natural understanding of the sea.  Those who follow the path of the sea tend to be the most fluid in their thinking and are open to new ideas.  With their increased knowledge of the sea comes a heightened understanding of the creatures that live in it.  Only sea path followers can coax a creature beyond it's normal abilities.  They excel at innovation but struggle with sticking to just one thing. Sea path followers can learn any skill in any quantity but they seldom master more than one.  They learn at an average pace.

The Forest Path: (Color) Green * (Anticolor) None * (Difficulty) Medium 

(Description)  Generally focused on growth, both physically and mentally, these path followers are considered the "makers" of the reef. They can be very creative but focus on the practical, preferring to create things that have a use. They enjoy constructing and getting their "hands" dirty.  They tend to be quiet, reserved, and subtle in their dealings.  Greenies learn skills slowly but can study 2 or 3 at a time.

The Sun Path: (Color) Yellow * (Anticolor) Cyan * (Difficulty) Medium 

(Description) Sun path followers can be both creative and lively.  Many enjoy the spotlight.  Items that they create often have no specific use beyond being pleasing to the eye and perhaps thought provoking.   They are full of energy, bold, and live with flare.  They tend to be extremely skilled in the use of song and have had many high level teekers among their ranks.  They enjoy the act of designing and when inspired can achieve beyond their normal skills.  They can be prone to daydreaming.

The Magma Path: (Color) Red * (Anticolor) Blue * (Difficulty) Very Hard 

(Description) This is the most difficult of all the paths, for when you live in the ocean studying fire is quite a challenge.  The followers, often referred to as firewalkers, tend to be focused and intense and often hot tempered.  They tend to be polarized, with some of seaquine history's greatest heroes and villains counted among their ranks.  Magma path followers can master a skill quickly but can only learn one at a time.

The Air Path: (Color) White * (Anticolor) Black * (Difficulty) Hard 

NEW! (Description) The air path followers tend to follow the skills of service such as healing and caring for those in need. They seek wisdom over knowledge and often react to situations from the heart rather than logically.  It is said that they reflect all colors and so are able to council better than most.  They generally have difficulty believing that the world is bound by hard facts alone and can be very spiritual. They have filled the seaquine history books with heroes as they are often the last to lose hope despite overwhelming odds.  Although often acknowledged for their good deeds air path followers can have a whole range of motivations, not all of them good.  Sometimes wisdom can get lost in ideals.  It is not unheard of for them to begin to feel superior to their fellow seaquines, developing an attitude of "I know what is best for you," and "My way or the highway."  Generally this attitude is merely obnoxious but in extreme cases these views have led to bloody battles for leadership as well as a variety of devious crimes.

The Night Path: (Color) Black * (Anticolor) White * (Difficulty) Hard

(Description) Those who follow the path of night seek knowledge above all else.  The night path is not evil but the desire to learn ever more has led many a night path follower down an even darker road.  Since all colors together form black, these seaquines also have aspects of all other elements inside them, be it just a fragment. In rare cases a gifted seaquine can expand on those fragments.  Their greatest strength is their keen intellect and without them the alchemists would not exist.  Their biggest downfall is often pride and it is said that they absorb all around them but give little back.  Seaquines who have reached advanced study of  the night path are capable of deciphering the star signs and can use this skill to make predictions about the future.  They learn skills at an accelerated pace but teachers of the night path skills are difficult to find.
